Default Alternator question

Well my alternator basically died today... I have a 1990 honda civic si HB, i was wondering if i need a specific alternator(like the exact gen of my car (89-91) or if i can use one from a different year... the only alternator in recycler that i saw today was one from a 94' civic si...or could i use an alternator from an 88' crx si? Thanks.

It might work since they are both D-series engines.

I believe the 92-95 civic alt had a different pulley but I'm not 100 percent sure. any crx or civic in our body style will fit. If you check www.autozone.com you can compare part numbers yourself and save the trip.

Very nice looking hatch. I had a white one but my little brother destroyed it in less then a year and it was flawless just like yours. Some lowering springs and an si front lip would make your car even sweeter.

hey jaimee i checked the junkyard for that alternator from the rex i'm partin out...they want 65 plus a core charge for it so it'd end up costin you like 100 with shipping...that's way too much to spend...just go to an alternator shop or autozone like the other guys said...it'll be alot cheaper
