Default Need info on CRX

I don't know a whole lot about CRXs. I currently have a 96 Civic, but i've decided to keep that as a transportation car, and get a second car that I can fix up.
Anyways i'm considering getting a CRX, but I don't know alot about them. Is there a model or year thats ideal to get? Like with Civics people want hatchbacks because they are lighter. Also as far as engine swaps go, what swaps into a CRX?
Thanks for the info.

If you're looking for an engine swap, ease of installation, and lightest weight points you to an '88 HF.

If you want absolute lightest [but far more work], weight points you to an '84 1300 or an '85 HF.

Pretty much any D-series engine is swappable, and any B-series is swappable without a huge amount of work in an '88-91 CRX. H-series has also been done, but not common.

my suggestion would be a 88 hf or si, just avoid the dx which has dpfi which would have to be changed to mpfi if ur swapping, and go for either a zc or b16 engine just my personal preferences though many other things can be accomplished but not without alot of work and $$$

yep, mpfi is the way to go.

i'd get a hf if your the hardcore type of guy. like these guys said, its a great platform for swaps: weighs the least, and none of the extra razzle dazzle. you'll get awesome gas mileage too

if you'd like more creature comforts, go with the si. si's have sunroofs:exnbp:
