Civic Stalling
My GF says that her 91 civic DX recently stalled at a red light. Not a problem if your car is stick, hers isn't. What could be the problem? The car has over 120g on the clock and I just replaced the muffler with a semi-performance one. She also has a Home Depot Intake (She hates the car so I'm not gonna pour money into it if she's just gonna hate it more)Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you might just need a simple tune up, spark plugs, and plug wires. my accord did that to me a few times and i did a tune up and bam it hasnt stalled ever since then.

She had her alternator replaced not too long ago, I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.
WhiteRice-I'll tell her to get the shop to look into that.
spdzone-Yes, it started up after that. It sounds like it might have been a leakage issue, not too sure though.
ZiviCase10287-She has a stock press. reg but the possibility of the old one wearing out is understandable.
RiceBoysDream-I know that she needs a tune-up. She is gonna get the parts from my guy at Nopi when she gets a chance.
Thanks everyone for the input. Hopefully the shop can figure out the problem if the car goes in on Wed.

yah probably just need a general tune up, new spark plugs, change the oil, check the plug wires and distributor, if it idles low you could have problems with it dying under a low vacume, try raising idle by turning idle screw on intake manifold, but probably for about 30 bucks you can make it run like normal, alternator wouldnt really have much to do with it unless your losing power from the battery, you could always take it to like a checker or autozone and have them charge the battery for free. but shouldn't be anything major if it just happened a few times, if it happens consistently then u may have a more serious problem but always just check the basics first with little problems like that,

A lot of times with autos, there is a sensor that has gone bad. It's been so damn long since I've dealt with an auto, that I can't remember what sensor to unplug... But it's a common thing with older cars stalling.. Unplug it, and it works fine.... I'll see if I can come up with it. hell, might just need to have the tranny fluid replaced...

She said that she just needed oil. Apprently the oil was below the dipstick line. Go figure. The car goes in for an oil change in another 1000 miles so hopefully she also does the tune-up then. Thanks again for the info people.

my friends probe se's STOCK fuel pressure regulator just went out on him, like it was making his car run too rich, dont' know how but it did.. so he replaced it and it never stalled, and hasn't yet.
