yah probably just need a general tune up, new spark plugs, change the oil, check the plug wires and distributor, if it idles low you could have problems with it dying under a low vacume, try raising idle by turning idle screw on intake manifold, but probably for about 30 bucks you can make it run like normal, alternator wouldnt really have much to do with it unless your losing power from the battery, you could always take it to like a checker or autozone and have them charge the battery for free. but shouldn't be anything major if it just happened a few times, if it happens consistently then u may have a more serious problem but always just check the basics first with little problems like that,
