Default cubby area question

Ok, I'm gettin a backseat from a 91 civic from my friend and I'm goin to transplant it onto my crx. What I'm wondering is can that cubby area be drilled at all? If so how far? I know the gas tank is right below there, I don't feel like drilling right into it.
Thanks!

88cardrex,
I have a first gen, so I'm sure there are differences, but I know I wouldn't want to sit in a seat back there. If you are going to make it at all safe, you'll have to have some sort of reinforcing plates below that cubby area for the seat bolts and the restraint bolts. In my case, I'd have to drop the tank in order to even think about drilling...I dunno, seems like a lot of work to me to give someone a really uncomfortable ride.

Or an inflatible pool toy-innertube... that should keep any rear passengers safe in a crash:chuckles:

I personally wouldn't do rear seats in a CRX, I thought the reason we didn't get the 2+2's was because they failed federal safety standards? The last thing you need is some friend's family suing you after their kid is killed in a crash while sitting in improper restraints.
