Hi my 86 Si civic ZC engine is cutting out between 4600-5000rpm. It is only doing this in first gear. I have new spark plugs, new dist cap and new ignition leads. the previous owner informed me that the ecu was replaced. The ecu is a pg7-033. i think this is a integra ecu. I am getting a code 1 fault code as well which is the oxygen sensor. Has anyone got any idea what may be causing it to cut out?

 

check that cat! the honeycomb is proly failing

 

Sounds like you're kicking the ECU into open loop mode, usually happens when the TPS is at or above like 73% I forget the exact number. When in open loop it tries to read a voltage off the oxygen sensor, and if you're throwing a code for the oxygen sensor then that's probably what's causing the problem.

 

ummm what if i took the cat out?
im in new zealand and we have no emision controls so having no cat is legal
