Default white smoke

Ok well, since I bought my rex it's been shooting out a *black* smoke whenever I rev past about 3-4k or so. Now I was told to clean out my air system and it would get better. I've ran several fuel injector cleaners, cleaned out the throttle body and put in a new cold air intake so it's pretty cleaned out. It's alot cleaner now...except it's shooting out a white smoke now. Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix it? Hard to ride with windows down whenever the smoke recirculates back in.
thanks
Ben Russell

Are you losing any fluids?

Black smoke is running rich
Bluish/Gray is burning oil
White is burning coolant

I've had oil smoke white in most of my vehicles so sometimes it's hard to tell.

yup, white smoke is usually a bad head gasket
i was told that if you smell the fumes and its kinda sweet then its time to replace the head gasket (agian this is just hear say)

is there white smoke all the time ot just on warm up ??
cuz if its just on warm up then its normal, cuz the temp. is getting colder it just takes some time for your cat and exh to warm up

This is true in my case as well. Also check to see if you're going through coolant like a madman...that'll be another flag that your head gasket is going. Change quickly, you don't want to warp the head.

test for head gasket:

run your hands in the exhaust. rub them together... are they damp? they should only be a little damp, you should not feel water on your hands. exhaust should _not_ be like the bathroom after you shower.

also, when the car is cold you can take the rad cap off and start the car. if there is a bad head gasket water will be very turmolous, possibly even spitting out of the radiator.

if you wait too long and you cook your car, guess what, you get to buy a new head...so be careful in your diagnosis.

I've had no problem with the coolant, however I do go through oil like it's nobody's business. It only happens at higher revs, it's not constantly blowing smoke but yes, everytime I rev high it does. I'll have to check again...maybe it was more gray than white.

well, you can smell coolant when it comes out the tail, and burned oil is only less irritating than the smell of burning hair. very distinctive.

My car is smoking white smoke constantly and it smells like gas real bad. There no coolant at all being lost. It does eat a little oil. If i rev it real hard it will spew out a puff of black smoke and sometimes pops real loud. Could this be a head gasget? Or could it be the rings? It don't seem to make a whole lotta power and the exhaust stinks so bad, i don't have a cat so i can rule that out. Also the exhaust seems very moist but the water doesn't seem to be buuning at all... WHat could this be?

The exhaust smells like there is more that just gas in it.. its probbally oil cuz like i said i don't think water is burning

If it were like the o2 sensor or egr or anything like that would i throw an error code?
