My First CRX ^_^
Sherwood I plan to do jsut that.. strip it and clean it up as much as possible. But being that I live in an apartment complex.. I have no where to store the car, plus if I have to travel for work, having a car readily availible. Just because of how easy it is, and mainly because I have a spare D16 block, plus the vtec head I think thats gonna be where I iwll go with the car. I know its not a fancy B series or anything but being that I already have or ahve at my disposal almost everything needed.. its a better way to go I think. Plus thsi car is jsut for fun, its not meant to be taken very seriously haha.
Oh and the car will be repainted, but deff not yellow... god I hate yellow cars...
When I bring hoem the Vtec head ill toss some pics up.. meanwhile ima do soem research on what to do to it. Any suggestions folks... I have the parts hookup already and I can also take the head to the machine shop that my buddies co. goes to.. so saving money that way will be nice..
oh yea.. haha and the sunroof got stuck open, and while trying to "ease" it down with my fingers. I put them right on a spot of rust and they went right through. Doh'

Spoke with some people about getting the rust fixed... Sunroof is stuck open on one side so that will need to fixed asap as well. I was trying to "hep" it go down by pushing it a bit after I sprayed it with some cleaner... and my fingers went right throught it. Its rusted pretty bad. Sucks.
On a good note.. I bought the Vtec head from a 98 EX I think? Uhh I got soem 0BD1 to 0BD2 connecter harness that he said I could sell? Any idea on how much that thing sells for? Or is it soemthing I should use when I put the head on my bock?
Also I have a buddy with an EF and hes selling me soem TEIN basics for 300 and there almost brand new so thats cool.. and I have some spare rotas layin around so when the car gets lowered ill have soemthing semi decent to slap on there.

So its been a while sicne I updated... I have hardly driven teh car sicne I was working at the apts that I lived, and working 7 days a week really keeps u at home..
Anyways, I have only done 2 things to the car... search for a free or dirt cheap stock muffler to replace the non existent one thats on there now, and replace the sunroof. It had major rust issues and was stuck open partially. I have since replaced it, got it fully clsoed, but not solved the sticking up issue totally.

I also noticed something new, that I didnt notice before. The car has a lsd tranny. So I guess thats cool. Only it grinds in 2nd and 3rd. Anyone know if its possible to source parts for this tranny. Motor is a jdm sohc zc have no idea which tranny...

Since the work on my datsun is taking longer than planned I have decided to put a small amount of cash into this thing to make it a fun cheap track car to tag along with my friends...
so there will be updates and pics to come shortly..

So its sunday and work is super retarded slow.. so I started to research on parts that are availible for the car, trying my best to get used stff jsut to keep it low budget. Dont get me wrong, I love the car, but its just not my main priority so its getting hand me downs. hile searching for parts a few questions have come up:
1. Why is it that while searching for suspension pieces i.e. springs struts coilovers etc; they list it like this - fits 88-91 crx then, as if to crush my hopes of getting something that fits or to drive me crazy they add * will not fit 88 crx *
I thought the 88 was the first year of the new body style, and well its honda so parts generally fit everything from 88-00 why is this year and car so diff?
I am sure this is an eas problem to correct liek changing the rear arms or soemthing, but is this actually true, will suspension pieces from 89+ models really not fit?
2. And this can kinda be part of my first question, I have a buddy who has a 91 hatch and he is upgrading to some overly fancy set of coilovers so I have a chance to score his practically new TEIN basics for like $200. What will I have to do to make these fit..
Just so oyu kow I went to the junkyard yesterday to try to get a look at a few CRX's maybe to see if there are noticable diff in the years ( and also to look for a stock muffler since I still dont have one ) but there were none... which is actually nice to see haha or not to rather lol

Congrats on the 88 CRX. I'm not as familiar with the CRX as opposed to the EF Civics. If it's the same though 88-89 ae same & 90-91 are same. I do know that the 91 CRX Si came w/ rear disk. The front corner lights are different also from 88-89 the that of the 90-91.

IM actually really interested in finding the best solution to this because like I mentioned before, I have my friend whos practically giving me a new set of coilovers but they are from his 1990 hatch. If it requires switching the rear amrs, I think I can do that no problem...
Also I just read on the ZC forum that the factory zc lsd was really rare and hard to find. Cool for me I guess if the gears were not trashed. Anyone know where to locate the proper parts to fix this. I have never rebuilt a tranny before but with the proper manual or how-to I think I can handle it.

I dont know if this is the greatest way to test it out but I jacked up the car and put it into 1st... I slowed the wheel down with my shoe haha then grabbed it and the opposite side wheel spun (in same direction) of coarse but very slowly... and it kinda hesitated at first. Obviously a 19 year old lsd will have to be rebuilt haha....
