Default B16 Vtec ??

Hey, fellas what's up. Quick ? On the 1gen B16 I know Vtec kicks in at 4.5. When does the second one kick in? Just curoius. My orig. ecu was a automatic B16 so redline was a sorry 7600. The shop who did swap sent a ecu out to have a spoon program ecu done. My vtec engage at 4800. The redline is 9 but I don't take it pass 8200 sin ce bottom is stock. Don't want to do damage. I have basic bolt ons so can't really tell when second vtec kick in like my Gsr.
Would the only easy way to be is have it dynoed. Thanks for any imput.

you only have one stage of vtec. the only multi stage vtec systems are designed to save gas not for performance.

btw, vtec on a stock b16 is ~5800rpm. i would honestly sell your "chipped" ecu and get a stock one.

Maybe I didn't explain good. For example on my 98 GSR when you're driving vtec engage at 4400 rpm & at 6k you hear the engine getting even louder. I guess you would call it the cam lobe or something. That's what I was trying to explain about the B16.
On the B16's I thought everyone always stated Vtec kicks in at 4500.

A B16a bottom end can handle 9K (not that it wont be outta breath)

I was talking about the bottom end....but the head should be fine with a VT upgrade, should it not?

it will hold together with stiffer springs and titanium retainers. but revving that high is pointless.
