Time for the big swap B16 Sir into 88 Crx Si
Alright guys, I talked to Hmotorsonline.com, I priced everything im going to need, and it will be coming to me here in a few weeks once i get the rest of the money together. I have just a few odds and ends that I want some confirmation on when installing. I have researched and understand what I am doing very well, my brother and I are doing the swap, and he is the "Certified Honda Mechanic." purchasing a B16a Sir motor OBD0, with lsd 5 speed tranny. the axles I am putting into my car, do they have to be custom, or can the axles for a b16a work for my car.?? once again I am driving a 88 Crx Si. The engine will be turbo right off the bat, so I have also acquired a turbo manifold and other goodies. yes I am running a piggyback computer, greddy emanage to be exact. the downpipe for my turbo on my previous motor was always interfeering with my front crossmember, is there anyway to avoid this? hack and reweld supports, or if i bought an aftermarket crossmember made of tubular steel, would that supply enough room for my downpipe off the turbo so it wont interfere. any pictures would be greatly appreciated. also what size downpipe, and exhaust should I use for best efficiency, running around 8-10 pounds of forced induction fun?
Ok the axles should work as long as they are from a b16 powered ef (88-91) civic/crx or a 90-93 integra. Remember the integras got b16's in the xsi. As for your crossmember you can hack it up, my buddies did this on thier b16 turbo'd rex and they are now buying an aftermarket one. Inovative racing sells one for 200bucks that allows you to run the 92-95 civic half size radiator which is a great investment if your going turbo, clearence issues with the bigger full size ef radiator. The inovative crossmember is already designed to fit a turbo mani and downpipe as well. My buddys are running a bone stock b16 with a t3/t4 tuned at 7psi pushing 240hp to the front wheels.
Awesome. can you get me some pictures of your buddy's setup in that crx mainly the downpipe and charge pipe setup off the turbo. Thanks for the help.
can i get those axles locally from an auto store? or are those a bit harder to come by?

The axles are 65.99 for driver side part # 026403 8000 for driver side, 59.99 for passenger side part # 026406 8001 @ autozone! thats after core charge of course, but hell you can take them your stock civic axles they dont know any better. I took 1 eg axles and 1 accord axles for my cores!
My buddys stock b16 is only pushing 7 lbs of boost but putting out 240hp to the front wheels. I would say you could prob get 10lbs safely out of a stock b16, the rods arent as strong as the stock LS rods, thats the only downfall
