my plug is stuck!!
ok, so here's the deal... i let some asshole at work change the spark plugs in my 89 Civic hatch, and lo and behold, he got the number two plug stuck... :idiots the plug is stripped in there and we cant get it tightened or thread it out. my idea is going in and take off the head, but before i go and perforn heart surgery on the good ol' hot rod, i just wanted to see if anyone had any simpler ideas.
I repaired something like that several years ago in the Hamptons. I was up there for the weekend and had no tools with me and we were in a rental car. Anyway, this girl in the house had a Nissan something-or-another and one of her plugs was so stripped it actually popped out of the head. This head and plug position was similar to an earlier Honda head where the plus threaded in from the front, not through the valve cover.
Anyway, I borrowed a neighbor's 1/2" drill, bought the correct size bit (like a 3/4" or something ridiculously large) at the local hardware store and found a local repair shop with a mechanic who loaned me a helicoil kit.
I put some paper towels coated lightly in axle grease (to capture the filings) through the plug hole and filled the cylinder, then coated the drill bit in axle grease and proceeded to drill out the spark plug hole from the outside
Once complete I coated the helicoil tap with grease and tapped the hole.
After tapping the hole I carefully removed the paper towels from the cylinder and tried to make sure I got all the shavings in the grease so I could clear the cylinder. I cleaned up the threads and installed the helicoil. Tightened the plug and the thing fired right up. Ran like a top !!
I don't suggest you try this method, but it's an option
