wanting to install a hidden kill switch..
ive been wanting to install a hidden kill switch in my car.. an i was wondering if anyone has ne good ideas in this case.. ive read things in other forums of ppl making it within the cigarette lighter such as wen its in the car can be turned on, or with the ashtray if the tray is open the car can be started? now how in the hell would i go upon that? lol but i love the idea? .. anyway ingeneral if its jus a switch thats hidden would i need to use the wires off of the ignition or off the fuel pump? anyone kno a good website that gives directions? .. an last i have a 91 crx, anyone kno any good hiding spots? lol my car is clean nothin in it except wuts in the glove box an in the compartments by the stereo, so since the car is soo small an simple, i cant think of many hiding spots except inside the glove box, which is easy.. u open to glove box, see a switch an u wonder, wuts this? ya kno.. im only wantin to do this switch because ive had a friend with a fully built h22 civic stolen, a friend with an ls civic stolen, an another friend with a stock civic got his stereo stolen an they left his hood poped it was a stock motor i guess they didnt want it.. all in my area.. so i dont want my car tampered with
Probably the easiest place to wire a disable switch in is at the clutch interlock (the switch that tells the car the clutch pedal is fully depressed).
important note: always break circuits on the low power side of the relay in the circuit.
-Go to RadioShack buy an 1/8 mini plug extension cable (42-2472, around $5).
-cut the male end of the ext cable off
-solder and shrink tube the two wires together on the male end (making a loopback)
-wire the female part into the clutch interlock switch so it breaks the circuit when the loopback is removed
-put the female end where ever you want
>>result: starter won't engage with loopback plug missing (push start possible)
A thief might find a hidden switch. But, an empty female mini plug connector doesn't look like a switch and without the loopback there's no way to complete the circuit.
Other things you can do:
-use the same method to cut the low power connection to the main relay
>>result: car won't do anything with loopback plug missing.
-buy and use a clutch/brake pedal lock (around $50)
