Basically, disconnect two wiring connectors and take out 2 screws. To put it back in, do the reverse. Oh, and you need to remove two of the lower panels on the dash under the steering wheel. again, just a couple of screws.

There is, of course, the required standing on your head and cursing a bit to get up under the dash, but that's about it.

Oh, you guys have convinced me, it's the ignition swtich. I swear, it does it like once a week, when I'm driving, but I hate it bcuz I have to repogram everything on the radio. I hate doing that. And yeah, I know what you mean about being upside down, cursing. Thanks a million you guys.

Wait, wait..... I just called the Parts Dept. at Honda, and they want to charge me $292 for it, just the part. I asked for an ignition switch, and that's what they said. Did I ask for it wrong?

Tell them, you just need the wiring part, not the whole thing where the key sticks in. It should be around 50 bucks or so.

I just talked to them and they said it's $60.45 for the wiring. Is that right? Is that what I need?

Okay, my b16 hatch did this once. I didn't make enough clearance for the alternator when doing the swap, so the pulley was just barely rubbing the frame. This caused the alternator to wear out and not charge the battery. The car wanted to die out if I didn't keep the revs up above 4000 because I had to get the pulley going fast to make a better charge. When I hit the brakes the radio died out, because the power used for the brake lights was taken from the radio since there wasn't much power left. Then I tried to honk the horn and the car died. Had to have a buddy bring a fresh battery to get me back to his house so we could fix the problem. Long story short, check the alternator. Autozone does it for free I think.

See, but I don't have a swap. It pretty much started doing it outta no where. What part do I have to change for the ignition switch to work right? This thing is getting much worse now.

Ok, my car is oficially dead. I went to try and start it this morning to go to work, and sure enough, it wouldn't start. The lights would come on, but very dim, and when I would turn the switch, nothing would go on. I was on there for like 20 minutes, and nothing. The stereo wasn't even on. And when I would press the alarm, it would go on, but it sounded like it wanted to die. Would this still be the ignition switch? If so, what part do I need to change?

To be sure... I would pull the switch and test it according to the JPEG that I attached above in post #8. It will tell you if the switch is bad or not.

If it proves bad (and since you have it out of the car already) take it with you to the Honda store and say, "I want one of these". That will ensure that you have the right part as well.
