Default 86 Crx

Don't know much about it yet, someones selling it for $600, says it's in good condition and has less miles than my 93 integra at 185k.

Are there any major things to watch out for on these years CRX?

These old CRX's are carb are they? h:

Unless its an Si model (Sports Injected) then yes, it is carbed... Main thing is rust... But thats any CRX/early Honda...

I personally wouldnt buy anything but an Si... Easier to mod... Plus they are generally quick stock... I test drove one (and almost bought it) before I bought my 91 CRX Si, and even tho they have less HP, it actually seemed faster than mine when it was stock... Probably the power to weight ratio...

The CRX Si has been around since '85, but you are probably looking at a carb'ed model. Beware of the base model, it is a carb'ed 1.3l with a four speed

Look out for heavy floorboard, wheelwell, and hatch rust.

I firgured the Si would be the best model to hope for. I'd love a later model CRX Si and do a little swap.

I dunno if it'd be worth it for me to get the CRX that old.

Oh, she did say it's only got 110k miles on it. Thats all the extra info she could get on it.

Lets be hopeful and say it's an Si, would $600 be a good going price for one assuming it's in good condition?

Yea, Id pay $600 for a decent Si...

I almost paid $1200 for this one (87 Si)...

Kinda glad I didnt... Cuz I dont think it was worth it... But $600 seems about right, maybe even $800...

Well I checked it out, body is good, little rust around the rear quarter, but that's about it. It's not an Si, it's carb and an auto. The guy already put some integra discs and calipers up front, no stereo (someone stole it a while back). It's got 117k miles on it.

So if I got it I'd have to be swapping it and converting to 5spd.

Lets play "supposing".

Suppose I got it and wanted to swap engine and for a 5spd. What's about the cheapest I could swap in there (non carb) and convert to 5spd?

Suppose I got it and wanted to step up from the cheapest and get something middle of the road... not a b18c or h22a or something like that, that I'd consider highend and probably just the engine would be tripple the price of this thing. If I wanted something a little above cheapest swap to non-carb + 5spd, what engine and price could I be considering?

Honestly man, if thats the case, either just find an Si 5 speed, or what u really want a 2nd gen CRX in 5 speed... It'll cost u too much to buy and then all the trouble too convert, than to just a more expensive one thats already 5 speed...

I you lived around here, you could swap to an Integra D16A1, convert to manual and fuel injection for under $400.

We also have an ultra-cheap junkyard packed with 1G Integras and 3G Civic Si's.

In other words, don't buy that car. The only 3G's worth buying are manual trans Si's unless you really know what you're doing with these old bodies.

I bought my '87 Civic Si for $800, drove the piss out of it for a year, and sold it for $800.
