Default what to do...

ok long story short, plan on buying a crx by june (can't seem to find a nice one around me) and sellin my car.

won't have too much money, but i'd like to purshace one of the cheaper motors for a swap, i'd do it myself, so i don't want to deal with putting in a b-series block, unless i get a great deal!

so i'll probably go the way of the DOHC ZC or a SOHC D16Z6.

what are your guys opinions for either, i'd be modding each one slowly (intake, exhaust, maybe cam(s), and header if i dont try and save for a turbo)

so i need idea's and opinions on which one you thing i should get, which do you think responds better to cheap mod's? which in your opinion would be better to run a low boost on

Oh and this will be my daily driver (and hopefully weekend autocrosser once suspension mod's start), so no outragous idea's please.

Thanks guys.
Brian

The first thing to do, would be to find and buy the crx. Heh. I've read good things about the dohc zc. You can make it as fast and even faster than the b16a in a crx, from what i've read. Also, a heck of a lot cheaper than a B series swap.

....... I am waiting for someone to chime in here...

Stock hp for a ZC -137
Stock hp for a B16A -160 and up

So tell me, what is the aftermarket parts availability for a ZC vs. A B16A ?

Dily driver/ weekend autocross, I would do a Z6 swap with a turbo. If you want to go a cheaper route, I would get the JDM B16A. It is a fun motor..

There is a reason the ZC's are so cheap....

There is a reason why b16's are overpriced, since lots of ricers and followers like yourself run out an pay those rediculous prices for a
overrated/ overhyped and undertorqued motor. Fuck the b16. I am so tired of that being the first thing out of ppls mouth when someone needs a motor, b16 vtec y0!. Get a DOHC Zc and boost thatlater or if you wanna do a b series, pick up a b18a and boost that, best bang for the buck.

Go to the zc resource or d series.org and tell those guys about their zc's.

I had a DOHC Zc in my '93 hatch and held my own & passed a stock b16 Civic. The twin cam Zc's are no slouch and can be made pretty quick.
The b16 may have the Zc beat in top end, but IMHO save your money stay away from it.

I didnt buy my B16, the guy who traded cars with me bought it, he paid 400$ for the head and 400$ for the block... 80k JDM , and then paid 500$ to machine the head.

Price just depends on the route you take...

Honestly, in that case Id listen to Mistacee, the B16 is a nice engine and all... But its overrated, and under torqued... Daily driven means u will have to rev the piss out of it just to keep up with mini vans in traffic... And ppl will look at u like your trying to race them just driving it... I know I have a D15B with even less torque and I have to rev mine to keep up in traffic... And with a passenger in the car? Forget it! For a daily driver, u want something with a decent amount of torque... But either engine would be nice... I personally would go for a B18A/B...

Rev the piss out of it? To keep up with mini vans and traffic? You must live in SoCal.. haha you do... lol...

Do your research online and find out for yourself what motor best suits your aplication and funds..

Questions,

What year did they stop makin the ZC?
What year did they stop makin the B16A?
