Default 91 civic spark problem

Hello fellow honda owners/users

I recently bought a 91 civic LX 5-speed for pretty cheap because it didn't run at the time...I brought it home and pinpointed the problem to the ignition system, I pulled out the spark plugs grounded, and tested them and I was getting no spark at all. I replaced the entire distributor piece.ignitor/cap/rotor/coil/ect.
but still no spark, I checked the main relay and it checked out fine, I checked the ohm. rating in the plug wires as well and they appeared fine..
someone please help me...

Ive also heard about the engine error codes and whatnot...and I was wondering how to check them on a 91...

any help will be appreciated

no I took the spark plug wires out, put a new spark plug in them (while they were still out) grounded them and checked them externally for spark...but still nothing
