ok guys it just started happening to me tonight. at a dead stop the cars starts to smoke alot a WHOLE LOT, when i go through the gears it boggs for a sec. then pics up like normal. the engine is a ls bottom end with a gsr head. i have no cel's on and cant think of anything i've have the car for a month now and havent had any problems but a high idle which is now fixed. any help would be great.

what color was the smoke?

 

the smoke was a grey/white color it doesnt do it all the time either, like at one stop light it will do it and at another it will be alright no smoke at all.....thas my problem i'm lost

 

weird check your oil for any water leakage into the cylinder. (blown headgasket) but gray smoke hmm does it smell bad could be burning oil

 

yeh it does smell bad and i did check the oil for any water seepage but nothing....it did this same thing the day i bought it from the guy and then i cleared up within 30 minutes of driving, and just now started again.

 

ok came to new find, it takes awhile for the car to start smoking. i took it out for a quick spin and parked it at my apartments and just waited.....1min.....2....3...4 and so forth. it started at about 6mins or so...it still boggs when i start off from a stop and when i shift gears....and i also noticed that if i ride it a little bit into the rpms it will pop from the exhuast "which it didn't do till now"

 

are you sure it smells bad? poping should be a flame. not saying your shooting flames but if you had a real short exhaust...like header and that is it...it would shoot flames. popping is more then likely fuel...which would smell real good...if your a junkie like me. lol oil smells like shit. grey color smoke...or dirty cloud smoke is fuel. and with the car bogging it sounds about right...what do you have for a fuelk setup? bigger injectors? ecu chip? etc...

 

well the car came with a str fuel rail, and the ecu has a pyr racing chip on the ecu. as far as the exhuast goes it runs the entire length of the car and dumps out right behind the passenger side back wheel "i plan on getting a nice exhuast within the week if this problem isnt anything huge", as far as the smell goes it smells a little sweet like it is gas. think if my pluggs are fouling out it could smoke?

 

check your o2 sensor to if its a gas smell you could be running really rich

 

the people that made the chip "burned it" said that they took care of the o2. i did notice that the first day i got it and asked the guy where the sensor was and he said that pyr had burned a chip that eliminated the need for the o2 and set it for perfect air/fuel and fuel maps. i did pull the spark plugs and one had a very strong gas smell though...and one did have a very minut trace of oil on it so im goin to buy new ones bkr6es from ngk is what's in there.....hopefully that will fix it from the stutter but as far as the smoke goes any further input would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys keep em comin'
