Default 88 Crx Si Coilovers - Good or Bad?

I really want to install Coilovers in my CRX. Mostly for looks purposes but I hope there will be a noiceable handling difference. Is this Upgrade worth the time and money? Is it bad for your car? How does the handling feel after mod? any other comments are very welcome. Thanks

It really depends on what your objectives are and how much you are willing to invest. The best setup IMO is the Koni/GC coilover kit. The springs can be ordered to suit what you want to do. The shocks are top of the line and will match the spring rates and drop correctly. Although I have a different sleeve the shocks and spring rates used on the CRX work very well together. If you are doing a show setup and nothing more-that is something very different from a track car or even a HPDE/Autocross/Daily Driver. Be sure to tell the supplier exactly what you are doing.
Do coilovers hurt the car-NO. That is if you understand what they really are doing and the impact on alignment and tire wear. There should be few issues witht he chassis if you DO NOT SLAM the suspension and drive it that way. The CRX has very tight clearnaces up front for suspension travel without things hitting each other.

Hope this is a start for your project. Take your time and don't scrimp on the components.

Also, you can't lower a crx without getting a camber kit(at least for the front). That is, unless you want to buy front tires every 5000 miles.

Thanks for the info. I live on some backroads here in alabama so i love to play with the great handling of the car. It would be awesome if Coilovers could make it better. I have considered lowering springs but i like the adjustability of coilovers. My dad is the only thing stopping me from getting it done. He keeps telling me its going to tear up my car and it wont be a good daily driver like that. I bug him 2 or 3 times a week about it. I hope he will eventually reach a breaking point. I just figured I would get some ideas from here.

#1 priority - I want the lowered look
#2 - I want improved handling

I would like to take it to an autocrass track just for fun but idk of any around here. Thanks for the information and feel free to post more comments if anybody has them.

The only thing bad about it from my experience was the back jarring ride. Yes, it did handle better though. It did not hurt my car at all while it was lowered. At least, not that i know off. I put the stock srpings back on mine because i did not feel like buying a camber kit. Also, my back feels better after a drive. Like i said though, if you lower it, be sure to get the camber kit first.

Edit: Also, if you want to buy some lowering springs for cheap, let me know. I'm in Georgia if you'd like to drive over and pick them up in person.

I'd take probably 20 bucks plus shipping. I don't know what kind they are. All i know is that they are yellow. They were on the car when i bought it.
