Default Throttle body and intake manifold question

I'm short on cash for awhile and I was planning to get a skunk 2 intake manifold and throttle body for around 500 but theres a local tuner shop that does port and polish jobs for 150 and that seems more likely if it reveals close to the same hp gains. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you port and polish your TB then it stays the same bore at the acutal butterfly. They just taper it down to meet the butterfly plate. If you buy a real aftermarket TB it usually maintains it's bore through the entire TB.

that would work. It also depends on what manifold you have now. I perticularly like the Blox mani's alot better then skunk2. If you are using a b16, or heaven forbid GSR, mani, then its worth buying one if you can swing the extra money. The Skunk2 and Blox are going to have shorter runner lengths which you wont get with a PandP manifold. I've heard a lot of good things about Blox, and personally like them better becuase they don't say anything on top, so they could pass for an ITR mani. You also see better dyno gains from the blox versus skunk2

try www.maxbore.com he changes the butterfly as well. So do most other porters.
