ok i already posted a thread about this but this is the updated situation
96 civic ex 5 speed
i (like a dumbass) shorted the main terminal on the starter
just overhauled my car now it wont start about to lose my freakin job and so on, anyway
bought a new ecu, 2 main relays, starter
problem is when i turn the key on the check engine light sometimes comes on and sometimes doesnt, but either time its not running the diagnostic test (no blink indicating the test)
everything else works
cranks over fine, doesnt start
main realy clicks like crazy when trying to start
check engine light doesnt come on at all with the main realy plugged in, but i believe its good ive been throught 2 or 3
speedometer jumps around like crazy when cranking
all fuses and relays are good pretty sure
please help i am stuck

 

Hmm. Well if your speedo or tach are jumping around like crazy, then it could be your battery or ground connection. My tachometer jumps like crazy when my battery is low, or my ground is bad. So your saying CEL doesn't come on when u turn the key to the on position? It's supposed to come on for 2 seconds, then turn off. Also, check for the whirring noise that the fuel pump makes to ensure that it works. If u don't hear the pump, then u could have a bad main relay, or the pump itself could be bad.
