Since his is rusted, we may have found the reason for the swap... Is the unibody/chasis rusted? Because if it is, then theres extensive work to be done there, and even then theres no gaurantee you can bring it back...

Naw man, if he has rust STAY AWAY, its like cancer, and if its in one spot, i promise you its in others you dont know about yet. In other words, his thing may look decent, but dont trade man, work with what you have. cutting corners makes for shitty work in the end.
