why does my car still smoke?
i have an 1988 crx dx,i gought a stock motor for it,its a d15b2!i just had the head completely rebuilt and after the car runs for a little while it starts to smoke.i was wondering if anybody could tell me why!!it seems to run great other then the smoking and that at times it can be a little sluggish with the throttle and power of the engine.i bought the motor and all i know about it is that it has been sitting roughly around three years!what is the problem?and what could i do to fix it?anything will be much apreciated!!
I have my money on the piston rings as well. Since it had been sitting for a while, the rings and cylinder walls may have become corroded and lost their seal with one another.
It is def the psiton rings. If it doesn't smoke immediatly when you start it up, then it wouldn't be your valve seals. My car smoke from about 6,000 to 9,000 when I stomp it. And I know it is my rungs. My suggestion is that if youare going to change the piston rings, Just bore out and get new rods and psitons as well, might as well do it, while you got everything out. Also, replace every single gasket you can while you have everything out. It will save you a bunch of problems down the road, and it is cheap too.
