Default Are there any experts out there??

Just wondering.. Can I use regular rubber o-rings from the hardware store as fuel-injector o-rings, or are the fuel injector o-rings made somehow to endure the manifold heat and gasoline corrosion? Thanks for the help guys!

you pretty much just answered your own question! LOL.. neway.. i would definally not use the ones from a regular store as they can not hold the heat.. and the gas will corroide them... so just use the OEM ones.. or aftermarket will work

correct..the rubber is a slightly different compound to reduce damage from heat and gasoline...they are cheap from the dealer anyhow.

got regular o-rings from Lowe's last night & they work fine.. no leaks. drove it for a good 20min & still good.. we'll see how a good 30min. commute goes with the heat.. I think it should be fine, as they have cool gas on them.. not sure if the gas will corrode or not, but hey.. a $6 fix instead of $14 from nopi or $35 from the dealer works for me.. if down the road they break, I'll know what not to do.

But then again, you are going to be kicking yourself in the ass when they bust and you have gas all over your engine compartment, and you have to redo everything you already did. I am all for being cheaper when I do stuff, but as I learned along the road, it is better to spend a few extra bucks to know it si GOING to work. Just my opinion tho. I mean hey, I tried fixing a brake line with epoxy. It held for about a day, then BAM it was gone. Jsut sayin' do stuff the right way the first time.

ok guys.. after about 75 miles the rings broke .. haven't taken it apart yet to see if they melted or corroded or what the damage is, but either way, I ordered a new set of injector o-rings from nopi.. should be here in a couple days.. i'll assess the damage then. for now the car is sitting at my work. Oh well, live & learn I guess.

cant say we didnt warn your.. now you might be spending a lil more than just 30 bucks..... might have to get a new intake mani.. considering they prolly melted to it.. then corrodied to the actual body of the manifold itself..

good luck.. and keep us updated!

Just jokin . I don't know what type of rings he used. I just think that Lowe's is primarily an appliance/home depot kind of store, so they probably only carry o-rings made for sinks or somethin....
