Default '90 Engine Removal..

Looking to remove my CRX Engine. Does anyone have a detailed (pictures) guide of what all needs to be done in order to remove it in tact?

I'm trying to get it out to check it out and work on it so that it can get fixed. I know my wires are all fucked up so I might need a new wiring harness.

Also, does anyone know how much it weighs?

The weight is approximetly 350-400 lbs give or take a little. You will need an engine hoist 1 of my friends completely ruined his D15 trying to take it out with out a hoist. Good luck!

just make sure that you have all the wires disconnected all the hoses taken off and the shift linkage tooken off as well as the exhaust manifold where it connects with the downpipe.. after all that is done it is pretty much put chains on each side into the block .. NOT ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE INTAKE OR ExHAUST HOUSING CUZ YOU COULD RUIN THEM! and drain your fluids and then unbolt each motor mount.. and hoist.. and presto! you have an empty engine bay!

GOOD LUCK.

when I hoist, is it possible to use a pulley and a rope/chain with a tree?

I don't exactly have an engine hoist (cherry picker?) at my disposal.

But I need access to more of the engine to check wires and stuff because I have a bad electrical problem with my engine.

Yeah it's possible, but be careful. Choose a VERY strong branch, and use another car to pull the engine out, I saw it done once before. But... I probably would never do something like that.

OR... you can drop the entire car to the ground... (take tires off) and let the engine sit there while you unbolt unloosen undo all the hoses, wires, etc. then take the motor mounts off.. and jack the car back up.. and boom.. the engine should still be sitting on the ground!!

good luck with the removal

you can rent a hoist for about $15-20 a day. just get everything disconnected before you need it (except mounts, obviously) and you should only need the hoist for a little while.

You're in Clarksville right? I may be able to help you out with a hoist. One of my boys has access to one, we just used it to install my b16 into my hatch a few weeks ago, I'll see if he can get it again and I'll let you know
