IF you mean the VIN, then the final 6 are the serial # and the frist part relates to the trim level. For example-JHMED9 is the code for a Japan built CRX Si.
If you are asking how to read the CEL codes-there is a window on the ECU. It is mounted under the passenger side carpet. Just peel it down and watch as you turn the Ignition switch to the ON position. If everything is OK you will get 1 quick flash. Do this where the light is fairly dim, btw.
You can also check how the MAIN relay functions by turning the switch to the ON position. You will have a CHECK light on the dash which will go out after ~2 seconds. You will also hear the fuel pump run during this time as it primes the system.
