Default 91 Civic starting/acceleration problem

My STD is having trouble starting... it'll start up for a second, and shut down. This happens usually after it's been out in the hot weather for a while, after a drive, fill up the tank at a station, come back and it won't start.

The only way to solve this problem is to pump the accel. as i'm starting it, or depress it fully, causing a huge gust of white smoke to expel from my exhaust.

I just resoldered the main relay and nothing happened to solve my problem, so i'm shit out of ideas.

Also, during normal driving, when I depress the accelerator, the RPM will go up a good thousand or two, but the car won't actually accelerate... just have that steady annoying high RPM noise. Not sure if this is also caused by the same problem...

Anyone got any ideas? I'm about to just take it to a shop

well the high reving is most likely due to a slipping clutch, and i dont honestly know what to tell you about the starting trouble

Actually, my car does relatively the same thing. My clutch IS slipping. My battery, however, doesn't seem to hold charge. That, or my alternator is going to hell. After I jump my car, after the first 5 minutes or so, if it turns off, I can't turn it back on and the battery is drained.

Your alternator is no good, it is what runs the car when it is turned on, if it is not working it will shut off the car. I know because before my car would shut off when I was driving

so the car has been professionaly diagnosed with a clutch problem.

now the only problem is the damn starting... today after driving for about 10 minutes, i stopped to fill up, and the car wouldn't even start back up for a few... finally, holding down the accelerator and cranking it, expelled a crap load of smoke and got her runnin... and now the exhaust lets out crazy white smoke even when idling.
