84 CRX idling *really* low and stalling
Hello. Car runs great, for an hour, sometimes 2hrs, then when stopping, starts idiling very low, then almost stalls. Unless I give it gas with emergency break on, it would stall. I am suspecting a carburetor adjustment????? maybe something was knocked loose when I went too quickly over a ditch/bump a few days ago.
I'm trying to get ideas before I break out the screwdriver. Thanks!

A fuel filter would help too, but probably has nothing to do with the problem.
Try the easy fix first, adjust the idle up. If that doesn't work, it could be a carb problem. Has it ever been rebuilt? A carb that old would probably need it by now.

With the '84, this could easily be a vacuum hose problem. The SI (I don't know about the others) had over 84 vacuum hoses, and two plastic boxes filled with little vacuum components. I took mine to two dealers and they both told me the same thing. When an '84 CRX gets a vacuum problem, it's time to throw it out. I replaced almost all the vacuum hoses, and tried a bunch of other things, payed a dealer over $1500 to try to find it, but to no avail. I wish I'd saved my money for a new CRX, or at least a new engine (without the vacuum hoses this time).
