Default Tie Rod End?? Perhaps?

Ok...I'll try and explain this...

When I make a sharp turn to the right and then come back to center...just as I get to center I hear/feel a muffled "clunk" on my driver's side front. Then it's gone...a friend said that my tie-rod end is going...is this the case?

Opinions?

As before posted, prolly not the axles since they're least "stressed" when you're driving straight. How consistent is it? every time?

A long time ago, my 86 CRX had a loud cracking noise from the front end, or maybe what you said, a muffled clunk. I cant remeber exactly the sound it was so long ago. Not a bad cv joint sound. I had no idea what it was until the day my front wheel feel off. Not completely off, but you know what i mean. The lower radius arm bearing thing broke. Look and see if your boot is cracked or broken. All the greese comes out and can cause it to fail or break after time.

You may also have a bad suspension bushing somewhere, and the clunking sound you hear is the the parts of the joint rattling around and smacking into each other. Happens quite a bit on older cars of all makes and models. Replacing the bushings or going urethane will fix it if that's the problem. Hopefully you can do it yourself, though. It's extremely time consuming and therefore expensive to pay someone else to do.

Jack your front end up, put your hands on the front wheel at 9 and 3 o clock. Now move it back and forth and check for play. I doubt it's a tie rod. Maybe your control arm bushings are torn badly and they need replacing.
