new crx owner
I searched but did not find a straight answer.
We just bought a CRX (year 88, for $250 engine is f**d?) and we're planning to swap a D16(?) (from a 96 civic cx). so whats the procedure????
P.S. my friend its gonna drive it for a couple of month and then we are swapping B16.

From a '96? Unless you want to convert the clutch from cable to hydraulic, I wouldn't do that. If I were you, I would buy a JDM D16 for now (88-91). They are about $600 delivered and have 100k less miles on them than anything you'll find in a junkyard in the states. If you're just planning on keeping it on the road for a few months until you slap in a B16, you may just want to buy a cheap junkyard one, though.
What kind of CRX is it, by the way?

I thought I could use the transmission the car brings (CRX 88 SI SOHC VTEC i think) i just need to get the car running for now, but the engine is blown. so since I have this 96 d16 just sitting in the garage i would like to put it in the crx. what do u guys think?
forgot to clarify that im usisng the stock crx transmission (whatever that is) and everything else. I'll just be swapping the motor (block and head).
Can use the stock ECU as well? OBD0 I guess?
im totally new to crx

Strip the new engine down to the bare longblock. Reassemble it with your manifolds, wiring, distributor, mounts, etc.
That's about it. Make sure the coolant ports on the new engine's intake manifold side match your old manifold though.
