Default Can't drive past 3000 rpm!

The check engine light on my 91 civic si went on a couple of days ago, I took the car to the mechanic and after plugging it in the computer they couldn't find anything wrong with the engine. Now the car won't go past 3000 rpm. It hits 3000 rpm and acts as if it had a rev limiter. Can you guys think on anything that might be causing this to happen? Thanks!

Something identical to this happened to me. What happened is that the crank angle sensor in the distributor caused mine to do the same thing when it got broke. The little screw that holds the rotor on bounced around in the distributor cap and crank angle sensor got broken. So double check the ECU codes, that's how I fixed my situation.

Just a suggestion.

sik crx is probably on the right track, sounds like a sensor issue to me.
