the most effective serious mod i've ever done
gut the car...losing 200 lbs makes the car more responsive in any category...it is the single most effective and cheapest (free :)) way to improve performance in all aspects |
I'd say the ZC swap was the most effective for power, but I guess you're looking for like I/H/E or something like that....Then....the Neuspeed front sway bar for $80 is the best money I spent. It helps in every aspect or damn near of driving, daily and otherwise.

Wow, you took out 200 lbs, and it cost nothing?! What did you do? I think I took out about 100 lbs off my '89 CRX Si by taking out most of the plastic interior panels, the carpets, some of the tar (still working on it at a slow pace). Is there other stuff you can do without spending $$$ or having a lot of mechanical skills?
I'd also like to remove the A/C and motorized sunroof, but I'm not sure how big a deal that is. So far, weight reduction also happens to be my most effective mod, but that's only because it's the only mod I have so far. I'm waiting on a set of TE-37's, but that doesn't count since it's not on my car yet. |
the 200lbs is an estimate...but about 50lbs for a whole a/c system remove (lines, compressor, compressor bracket, evaporator, electrical switch)...then i removed the entire interior including radio/speakers...also when i swapped out the old d16b6 (hf engine) for the si i also removed several meters of wiring for a previous alarm system and a/c system...also under the dash i removed lots of other wiring that wasn't needed...the spare & jack were also removed
