They work, kinda, as in they should start and run the car... no promises from there. In other words, you do need to match trans type.

ok...i checked for code 55 and didn't see anything but i might know whats wrong code 4 .. CKP Sensor (Crankshaft Position Sensor) defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor... did you do ALL of the wiring need to convert from a dpfi to mpfi... i am pretty sure that, that sensor is located in the dizzy and is need for the engine to start...i had someone run the wrong wire there once and it wouldn'
t start... it took me long as hell to figure it out...

I personally don't buy ECUs from a junkyard unless I am the one who pulls it out, or I watch it get pulled out to avoid problems just like this. I don't even remember how to tell the difference without trying them... go to an Acura dealer and ask them to look up the part number. That will give you the answer fast.

i agree with kai... go to acura.com and find a dealer near you and ask them to check the ecu... also since you went from dpfi to mpfi did you remember to switch the wires at the tps???? just a question to check...good luck!!!

Don't forget, this guy posted in the wrong section, he has a 6th gen Civic. The mods haven't been around to move it yet...

i am not sure about the 98 civic... but i know for the 4th gen civics you have to switch 2 wires around... but i dont think any of the newer civics came DPFI.. so i dont think it would matter... you might wanna try posting on the 92+ civic board they might be able to help you out more... yea kai i forgot he didnt have a 4th gen civic... i dont think you mess with the tps... o well good luck
