D16Z6 Swap into 86 CRX SI
I am swaping a D16z6 into a 86 crx si, I am using the tranny and the flywheel and clutch from the D15, Will everything work ok with the 1.5liter clutch and flywheel on the 1.6liter block? The D15 flywheel is alot smaller and lighter then the D16 flywheel, I am assuming a horsepower gain from the smaller flywheel but more of a risk of slipping from the smaller clutch. Any comments will be appreciated.

you'll definitely want a stronger clutch. Not saying you need a 6-puck race unit, but find something able to handle the power. There's a place here in San Diego called Southland Clutch that will build a custom clutch for any car, any size flywheel, any power output, yadda yadda yadda. Perhaps you have a place liek that where you live?

no the diameters of the flywheels are not the same, The D16Z6 is larger then the D15 with the cable tranny, I pulled the 1.5 flywheel and bolted onto the D16z6 so it will fit into the cable transmission, the D16 flywheel would not fit into the tranny because the axle is in the way so I put the smaller flywheel onto the d16, The D16 block and the 5speed D15 transmission are interchangeable correct? I am going to use this clutch for now as just a daily driver, this one still has alot of life left in it, ill upgrade to a racing clutch the next round

Ok, I have to apologize, I should have seen this earlier. You're trying to put a Z6 into an 86 CRX? That's tons of work if I remember correctly. It's basically the same as putting a B-series engine into a 88-91 car. You need different mounts, you gotta make room for the alternator, etc etc.
You're better off putting in a D16A1 (86-89 integra) engine in it. That's basically a ZC, and it drops right in. Please correct me if I'm wrong, by the way.

We already told you this would be a pain-in-the-ass swap, but you're trying to do it anyway.
The 84-87 Civic hasn't been a popular swap car for about ten years (if you think of it like that,) and nobody makes the custom parts you need. If you need something, the best you can do is to make it yourself.
If you want an easy swap, use an 86-87 Integra D16A1 or a JDM browntop ZC, you can easily buy one for less then you can sell your D16Z6 for. If you want to have fun and learn stuff mostly on your own, use a D16Z6.

I am learning a good bit about these cars, I will have to use my EX tranny in this car, Is there a cable to hydrolic clutch conversion, I have seen Hydrolic to cable clutch kit, If not I will have to custom mount my master cylinder and lines onto the car.
