I have a 91 honda civic with 162k miles on it. When it shifts into gear it is VERY jerky, it does it through all the gears. Is that a sign of something going bad?
not an automatic type of guy but had an 89 accord lxi auto that had the same problem...it was the transmission slipping as the clutches get more worn over time (and depending on abuse)
So you think its going bad? Ive read around on diff web sitesd about them being hard shifters, but I dunno what they consider hard shifting. You think honda ATF will help at all?
it will eventually get worse but with a honda tranny that could be years...go ahead and replace the tranny oil and see what happens...it won't help with the slipping but may make it a little smoother
I dont really know if it is slipping. I just found that the inner CV boot is ripped and I wonder if this is prolly causing the clunking sound and possibly the jerking when shifting?
