like the title says, ill be swapping the engine from one of my 85 crx si's to the other in probably 3 weeks. what are some things that i ought to do while its out? im planning on checking the clutch, changing the timing belt, and swapping the fuel rail as the one on that engine is leaking. what else should i do?

Waterpump, fuel filter, check the CV boots, valve cover gasket, air filter, of course the engine and trans oil and coolant... that's all I can think of at the moment.

Wash/clean up the engine bay the best you can. Get rid of some of that 20 yr old dirt and grime that's in there.

to the new engine going in: i'd do the headgasket, water pump, alt & timing belt and pretensioner, ac belt if you are keeping it, plugs & wires, and depending on the mileage of the engine maybe new piston rings, and crank bushings (i normally would rebuild the engine if it had over 100k miles on it)

I'd be tempted to throw a new clutch in depending on the state of the current clutch. That's what I did to my engine before I put it in the Civic.
