Default fuel cutoff problem?

alright so when i was driving, my car lost all power and began to slow down, even when i was on the gas (like i was runnign out of gas) but know how far i can go and i should have had at least 30 more miles before i had to refill. so i pull over, turn my car off, start it back and its fine =\. i went to get some gas and it didnt do it again. it happened once before, and lef tme stranded, but only started after after i installed a fuel cutoff switch, only i didnt install the switch, and left the wires twisted and wrapped in tape. could that cause my problemm?

could is a pretty big word, and yes, it could.

Twisting and wrapping in tape isn't a very good electrical connection. So I would check this first. If you want to eliminate this as the cause, make a better electrical connection (solder, wire nutt, or at least some quality crimp connectors) and see what happens.

Code 9 on an Si ECU indicates a fault on cylinder position sensor. And yes, that would make it run poorly.

yeah i have a b18a1 on my car too, and i noticed something weird..or what seemed to be weird on my engine. when i look at it from the front, right next to the distributor, on the head towards the front of the car, there is a hole which has bolts that looks like something was supposed to be bolted on there. im thinking either the crank angle sensor or cps?? but instead there is a black rubber cap coverin it. im thinkin it all depends on if my distrbutor has that sensor in it...but any help? its obd0 too.

Dunno about the b18, but the CPS on a 1.6L is connected next to the distributor (towards the firewall). I would think that if your's didn't have one at all it wouldn't really run well at all and would be blinking a code.
