I decided to put a cig lighter in my crx cuz I wanna hook up my radar detector, and it didn't come with one. So I look at the wires in there, there's 4 of them. 2 are combined into 1 with this metal prong that looks like a Y which seems to be the one that goes to the cigarette lighter assembly. One of them goes to a light bulb, and the other was just a free wire with a plug on it. The only wire getting power according to the multimeter was the free wire. I checked the fuses and the fuse is good. How do I get power to that Y looking connector? I'm guessing one of the wires is pos and the other is neg?

 

In my car I had 2 wires coming out from around the radio or something that went to the cig lighter. It was just like you said minus a free wire. Only thing I didn't understand is why the light bulbs would stay on when the car was off. I took them out so they didn't drain my battery or something.

 

eh,radar detectors are more annoying than helpfull.you can buy the get up at wall mart an connect it to any free wires you have that are "hot"
