Default Boot question....

Can this boot be replaced on my 91 crx hf or do i have to get the whole thing? I dont know what its called.. i think its the upper ball joint? not sure though.. i have attached a pic... sorry had a crappy flashlight... this is what it is on my crx... help me out guys..Also if my cv joints are clicking and the boots are not torn can i just inject grease in there and it will be ok? i bought this car for 1,900 full of problems.. i dont know what i was thnkn... now im thnkn im gonna kick someone's ass...

If that's the shock dust cover, you can get those from a dealer.

The axle needs to be rebuilt or replaced if it is clicking, there's no way around that. If it is clicking, it's already damaged.

what is that picture? jw, how could an axel be bad if the boot isnt ripped? and the boot has never been replaced? i dont see how thats possible. but anyways, what symptoms would a bad ball joint give?

Yes, you can buy ball joint boots from Honda. But if any dirt has gotten in there, the joint can still wear out.

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what boot you're talking about. I thought Honda only sold complete ball joints, complete with their "boot," only in certain cases though.

Also, it is possible for a CV joint to go bad with the original boot intact. I have seen boots leak grease with the boot in place and in good condition, and if they loose grease, they can die while still looking perfectly fine. Is is uncommen, but it can happen. Don't argue with a ticking CV joint.
