Sorry, I must be confusing my OBD levels again. Pre-OBD and OBD-0 cars will blink the number, OBD-1 and 2 cars will have the long and short blinks.

Code 12, twelve short blinks, is the EGR system. Check that out first.

hehe, the egr system, thats what was wrong with my hf back in the days. Just don't take it to Honda, they'll argue with you for like 30 mins that you don't have an egr

I have some nice pictures of the EGR on a '93 VX, but I don't think the CRX HF EGR system is very similar.

But yes, it is a valve that usually gets clogged with carbon when it gets old. You can clean it out with carb cleaner or just replace it. If you're lucky, the guys who put in your engine just forgot to plug it in, you could check for that while you're in there.

The green is where the valve is, under the strut bar. The red highlights the extra passage in the intake manifold that runs from the valve to the four runners for the exhaust to reenter the intake charges.

This engine is currently sitting in HatchVX's garage, so I may be able to get more, better pictures. I forgot he had a strut bar in these pictures covering everything.
