Default crx engine swap gone wrong

i just pulled an engine swap or i guess i should say am in the process of just that. i swaped an non vtec d15 for a vtec d15. used the same tranny but a different intake manifold.... manifold has no egr sensor however my stock manifold did... here is the problem as is now......... my fuel pump stopped working with my computer however works with an ecu out of an accord 4 door. my engine is running really rough.... first two cylinders foul out plugs and lost compression.... it won't idle unless we unplug the vacume lines to the intake. if i am not mistaken that means it is running to rich.... tell me what ya'll think i need to do to fix it.... if you need to know more just ask or email me @ dustLHPRO2@aol.com

sounds like somthing is seriously wrong with the 1&2 cyls...If u physically lost compression(IE, hooked up a compression guage), then somthing inside is broke(valve, piston, etc)

If its just fouling could be a number of things...no spark, stuck open injector.

Describe your engine setup more. What engine? What ECU? What OBD version? etc.

thanks for your advice..... the engine is D15Z1... nothing special... it has to be the computer. i am getting the ecu for that engine friday i hope. we will see if that works. do i need the egr or not. i would like to run a bigger intake manifold if possible but if i have to use the egr vavle then i will have to use my stock manifold.... it seemed to bog down when i but the larger intake manifold on and had all the vacume hoses hooked up but when we took them off it idled smoother.....

most swaps into a crx of early model civic involve leaving the egr valve unhooked, my zcs and b16s also did not have an egr valve on the intake manifold that vacume hose gets plugged and pulled outta the way. and hopefully the correct ecu for the engine will help it to run smoothly

i used the original intake for that engine and it does have an egr valve but if i can get away with not using it then i would like to. would not using and egr vavle cause any problems?

You still didn't say what OBD level you are using, the D15Z1 is an OBD-1 engine that you put in an OBD-0 car.

Why exactly did you use a D15Z1? It's a pretty useless VTEC-E engine. That's not the same as VTEC.

Anyway, if your electricals are missmatched, of course it will run like hell... help me to help you.

im sorry.... i dont' know what and OBD level is. you need to explain. i dont know a whole hell of a lot, but i do know some.... here is what i have been told recently.... that engine supposedly only came in an 92-93 civic "VX"... in which i have never seen a VX and supposedly they are a rare occurance.... does anyone know if it was put in a different model and year.... i need to get my car running... it is driving me mad... also if you could. explain what you were saying about the vtec... i was told the engine had 125 hp but then again that is for the 92-93 civic vx for all i know they could be telling me the wrong car and computer i need.
