Default ls engine or b16a

I half to get a new engine but not really sure which one to get, I'm leaning more towards the ls motor just for tourque and over all a good strong motor, but the b16a has a nice vtech but no low end power. But whats everbodys opinion ?

thanks

B18A vs B16A x2037293905. Search.

I'd stick with the B18A. Or the B20 if you can afford the extra few bucks.

i was considering the same...i chose to go for b18a, it's a cheaper motor to find and has more torque for our light cars.

Ok, here is what you must consider. An LS motor is very easy to find. You can usually find the whole swap for around 13-1500 which is extremely reasonable. You should then take a B16 head and put it on the b18 block. Then you have the best of both worlds but will pick up more power. The VTEC will kick harder. You wil be very satisfied. VTEC B16 heads go for between 500-800 dollars. You will shoot from 140+/- to about 175-180+/-

my friend has it done and all I can say is NICE

I am considering this for my 90 hatch shell. I have spoken to a couple a people and read some articles and have heard many different opinons about it. I am thinking about going b20 with the b16a head. Many people he ratio is too messed up and eventually you shit will blow so basically you will have to bullet proof your block..but then again I have talked to a guy who did the b20 v-tec and has had it stock with just intake and headers for about 2 years with no problems. All I suggest is do research and make sure this is what you want first. The b16a is a good engine though and has a real big market for it, and I have heard there is more you can do to a b16a then b20 but I am fairly new to he import game..and 1fastercrx where have you seen the setup for 1300??? thanks

Im in the process of a B20 vtec and the only things I really suggest is watch your valve relifs and get a billet oil pump gear. The B20 is already fitted with a knok sensor so that means less work for you. Although I had a stock B20 with a skunk2 intake manifold and basic boltons and that thing flew. But if you go with a straight B20 turbo the hell out of it..

I have a question -- LSVTECKING can you put a B20 into a 4h gen stock without the b16 head?? I have heard the manifold won't fit but will it work with a reg b18 manifold. I was thinking of leaving it a b20 and just turbo'ing it. what do you think?
