Hey guys its been awhile. Im back i still have the first gen CRX that i love to death. I also just got a 89 Civic HB that i like just as much. But i am running into a few probs. I cant decide if my car is the dx or the base model civic. First off its slow as poop. i know its not the si. if there are any suggestions on which it is please help me out. And if it turns out to be the base model civic with a whole whopping 70 HP. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what would be a good swap? Mini-me or ZC. or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey, is it DPFI? (Dual Point Fuel Injection)? With only 2 injectors?

Or is it the 8 valve engine with MPFI? (Mulit-Port Fuel Injection)

If your valve cover doesn't say 16 valve, and has the MPFI. Then its the 70 HP engine.

If its the DPFI, but IS 16 valve, then you have the 92 HP engine.

The 92 HP engine is in the DX.

The 70 HP engine is in the HF.

there were 3 types of civic hb from 88-91...the std that came with a 70 hp dpfi engine, the dx which came with a 92 hp dpfi engine, and the si with came with the 106-108hp mpfi engine...there was no hf level civic hb...it only came in the crx lineup

a way to tell if you have the std over the dx is to look at the tranny...is it a 4spd manual or 5spd manual...if its the former (4spd) then you have the slowest hb of that year and to do a swap it requires you to replace out the front knuckles for the dx or si units b/c the std come with smaller weaker axles

ok then i win the slowest civic of the year award.
ok i know i gotta swap out the knuckles which would be the best swap for the money. The mini-me swap or the ZC swap????
I have a friend that will sell me his sohc vtec engine for 200.00
but around here i can find the zc at the junk yard pretty cheap also. I am willing to do eighter or. please let me know ya suggestions. I also know i gotta get the 5speed trany cause this 4 speed garbage sucks.
