Default hatch smokes

my friend just got a new cam, pulley, port n polish, and new 02...

now we adjusted all the values and everything, but when it starts it smokes really bad(exhaust) and after driving it still does a lot....

it smells like fuel, but we were just posting on here to see if anyone had any similar problems or ideas why this is being caused?

we think we may know but we wanna see what people have to say...thanks

BDI: could it be oil in the cylinder from adjusting the valves?? thats kinda what it sounds like to me... if it was running rich on fuel, i dont think it would smoke, just smell like gas. but i'm not an engine expert.. so thats my $.02

CRX-stg3: better cams normally do help with hp, adjust how long the valve stays open and how high up the valve travels, which allows for more fuel, and can result in more power.

someone else please back me up or clarify for me, if i have something backwards or mixed up.

^^ we are talking about a sohc ZC...not a d16...

i wouldn't waste money on a cam on my car, but it would be helpfull in HP gain...

any who the really doesn't do shit, without a modded ecu...

ok.. i dont think thats going to matter.. you said in your post you adjusted the valves... im saying that when that happened, oil might have gotten in there. wouldn't matter what kinda of cam setup.. but like i said before, im no engine guy.. so this is just my educated guess

If it's white then somehow coolant is getting into the combustion chamber. He probably has a bad headgasket. Hopefully he doesn't have a cracked head, that would suck.
