It is superior by all accounts, or at least on the same level. Edmunds.com and TCC have both said it is "the best". Previously, the Mark Levinson system was the best. The surround sound is incredible h:

Did Acura send your dealer a demo DVD-A disc with the car? When I test drive the 6-Speed I want to hear a DVD-A...I test drove the auto but forgot about it.

hey everyone,

i just test drove a new 04 tl.
my impressions are these...
very nice interior..
solid comfortable ride..
nice amount of power..
terrific sound system..
the only negative things i feel are ....
torque steer under heavy acceleration...
and the lack of V8 torque.

overall a very nice automobile.
i'm very curious as to what the next generation RL
will offer. i'm hoping 300 plus horsepower and a little
bit bigger in size.

The new TL is better in person than it looks in pictures. I was in awe when I sat in one at the dealer. Definitely a car I'd see myself in.

I heard there are no plans for a Type-S - but the track times pulled by the TL 6-speed are great for a 3500lb near-luxury car.

Fit and finish was excellent as usual, and the "groove" doen the side give it a distinctive look up close.

The interior is soooooo nice. It made my RSX-S feel not so premium!

According the the Wall Street Journal, the new RL will be 300+HP, and either RWD or AWD!!!. Apparently, honda has been taking a lot of flack for not offering AWD cars. I almost bought a (cheesy-ass) WRX just for this feature. I'd have gladly ponied up another $3-4K for an AWD RSX-S.

as a former RL owner(99,00) i'm really
pissed :madfawk: that Acura has taken so
long to revamp the RL. what the hell are
they waiting for . i've got to think
that they are losing a lot of sales. heck they lost
me. i traded my 00RL for a 00E430 sport. since then
i've purchased 3 more Benz's....all with V8's. even
after good experiences with MB i still would purchase
a new Acura....if it had 300+hp. my first car was a
civic 1500GL and i guess i have a sentimental feeling
for Honda

Okay, since I just got back from a Factory honda school, here is the latest in rumors from ppl that actually know what's going to happen....

RL will be a V8 in it's new model design, It will be offered in two wheel and a semi awd. However be semi I mean the rear will be powered by a rear electric motor assist drive unit, not the regular engine. Oh and by the way, the NSX will not be recieving the much needed V8. sorry...

The 04 TL will be offered in the SUmmer edition which will be the "S" version, I stated that earlier, but it will not be called the type s or whatevr. It will have the upgrade engine brakes and transmission...

I wonder about the "type" versions acura comes out with becasue I heard for sure that acura is quiting calling the models "type" anything and is going to start calling the better high end models something else. I noticed that the new TL is called just TL now instead of 2.5 tl, 3.2tl, etc.

The RL will not have a V8. Honda will never produce a V8. When they do, I will eat my own taint and resign from HAN.

If you read the News and Rumors forum, you'd know that Acura decided to switch "Type-S" to "A-SPEC." A-SPEC for now only includes exterior modifications and suspension modifications...in time, quoth Acura (Tom Elliot maybe?), A-SPEC will grow to be something of an M division. There is no more "Type-S" after the RSX is redesigned. This means engine modification.
