Default Blue smoke from tail pipe

Hello everyone. I own a 96 3.2 Tl with around 118k on it. The engine has a lot of blue smoke coming out at idle and on take off. There is no smoke while driving. I feel that its the valve seals. I checked the pcv valve and it sounds clear and working fine. I hate dumping in that honey crap. I don't think its the piston rings, car is real strong and idles smooth. These are the two conclusions I came to. so with this info i'm looking for a good tech around NYC. How much roughly would it cost to change the valve seals? Is it hard? Thanks

-Omar

Do you mean the valve cover gasket? Where is the smoke coming from? Engine or tailpipe?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know, there is no "seal" on the intake/exhaust valves. If you are getting it through your tailpipe, my guess is a cracked cylinder head that is leaking coolant into the combustion chamber, that's how it is coming out from the exhaust pipe.

You might wanna check out oil level, too. Usually the presence of blue smoke could result from burning oil. In fact, it´s better to inspect if piston rings and cylinder walls are worn, both being the main causes of burn oil.

oil levels were low when I check I sometimes have to fill it up with a quart or so not to often though. I think I also might have a head gasket problem, oil change place added anti freeze to the overflow tank and now its at the minimum level =-( I need a tech asap!!!!!

Have you had a mechanic check out your engine yet? All they need to do is a compression test. Regarding your coolant level, when your engine is cold, the overflow tank is suppose to be at the min. level.

I havent taken it to my mechanic. I really just wanted to take it to one mechanic which would be the Acura mechanic. Also the antifreeze is looking kind of good right about now.

But on another note my door locks keep locking!!!
