Default timing belt

I have a 99 3.2 TL with 79,000 miles. The dealer says after 7 yrs or 105,000 miles whichever comes first, the belt should be replaced. The car is 7 yrs old but has lower miles than the recommendation. Should I replace the belt now or wait until 105,000? Thanks

If the car is not a salavage or has knowown history, then you might want to bite the bullet now for saftey.

If the car is great, then you certainly dont need to do it now. The factory recommendation is fine. By rule, I usually do it 10k before their milage.

For cam belts, there is a time limit and a mileage limit. How do I know? I have two sports cars that use belts, and I have read about too many of them breaking or shearing off teeth with low mileage and lengthy service (time). If your pistons hit the valves due to the belt not doing it function, you will be out a lot more money.

I agree with ED9man. Replace it now.
