I just talked to my dealer about the 60k maint. for my 2000 TL and they said they would do all that plus change the tranny fluid for $320. They said that $200 of it was just the tranny fluid change. I don't get that! Is it really that hard or time consuming to change the tranny fluid?

No, tranny fluid change is the same as changing oil. Labor wise, it should be the same, if not, less because there's no filter to change. If they recommend you to flush the tranny, that is a no-no on Honda/Acura trannys so don't let them talk you into it. Tell your dealer to fax/send you a list as to what they would do on the 60K service.

Ok, I just got a fax from the biggest dealership in my city (Colorado Springs, CO) about the 60K service. They sent me the maintenance schedule for "Severe conditions" which they describe as temps under -20 F or over 110 F. I have never seen in all my years here temps outside of that range, but whatever. The only thing they do in this $300 service is change the oil, rotate the tires (which I just had done yesterday!) lube the locks, and change the air and cabin filter! Everything else is inspections! They don't even change the trans fluid! I don't get it. I for one will not be getting this service done! This maintenance schedule recommends changing the trans oil for the first time at 90K.

If you haven't done any of this, do it. Tranny fluid/coolant flush/brake fluid. Do what I do, bring your car to a trusted mechanic and tell them what you want them to do. I can inspect my own fluids thank you.

I'll do it for $350.00 and vacuum it out and wash it.
