Default New here, and future buyer (soon I hope) '04 or '05 TL

I'm new to this forum, but not new to forums in general.
I am potentially going to buy a new '05 or a slightly used '04 TL in the next month or so.

I love the car.

In my research, I have only found the trannies are something that I need to worry about on '04's. Other than that, they seem solid.

Is there anything else I'm missing that I need to check on with any pre-owned vehicle I'm considering?

Only other question: Can you have Sirius hooked up instead of XM to the factory stereo?

Since I'm new, my background if you care:
I'm a total car nut! I currently own an '03 Explorer and an '02 911 Turbo.
I used to have a '01 BMW 330i and am considering the TL as its replacement.

I'm a mod at 6speedonline.com and funcarsonline.com. I may 'know' some of you.

Thanks in advance for the info!

Default 05 Tl

Yeah , What's happening everyone. My wife & I just bought a 05 TL w/ Nav. Last Saturday & a 98 Sonic Blue GSR. Loving both. The TL is Auto. Wife doesn't have a stick down 100%.

Get the 05 TL. The money they want for a 04 you can spend a little more for new. My wife & I just bought a 05 TL w/ Nav. system. It's Navy Blue. We wanted to get just the A Spec rims 18" but $3200 is too muc. For that type of money you can get some 20's for that price. You'll love it. With the Nav. it'll run you around between 35K- 37. Trust me it's worth it. It has everything. I also bought a 98 GSR w/ only 74,600 which was a still. Got it from a private owner. Good luck.

Thanks gingas.
Good thoughts. Thing is, $35k is a lot more to me than $28k. Like 20% more.

I really want the Nav. Is it possible to get installed later if it doesn't come from factory? For example, if I find a good '04 w/o it, but want to install it.

It wouldn't be worth it to install the navi at a later date. There are alot of parts involved, especially the wiring. It would be a much wiser choice to buy one with Navi if you really want it, or go the aftermarket route.
