Try a different brand of tire. The stock Michelins on the TL are pretty crappy.

Struts are not going to help you with road noise, the right tire will. You should read the reviews at www.tirerack.com and see which tire best suit your needs.

Does anyone have a specific recall or bulletin #? My dad just called me and told me his 01 CL-S started clunking the last few days. It just drops into whatever gear it wants or neutral and the car jerks violently. I just want to know some concrete evidence so we'll have the upper hand when we call the dealer. I had a 00 civic and they tried to give me trouble with relatively simple warranty repairs.

If he has under 100,000 miles, he'll be covered.

I believe you can go to www.acura.com and register for an account and you can enter your VIN and it will tell you if there is a recall or any extended warranty of the tranny.

According to the dealership my dad called they're trying to tell him that they want to just replace the internals and use the same housing? They mentioned something about keeping the left and right housings but I think they must be confused because the transmission should just be 1 big bell housing with all the gears and internals inside.

Did any of you get a rebuilt tranny or were they replaced outright?

Falken ST115's are notoriously known for being a very quiet tire. I have a set on my M3 and they lasted 20K miles plus a season of autocross and they're very good on road noise.

I believe most people got a remanufactured tranny.
