Default wiring question

Equipment: (2) Kicker Solo-baric S10L5's w/ Dual 4 ohm voice coils

Question: To get 1 ohm out of this setup, is this the correct way to wire it?

Wire the voice coils of each driver in parallel, then wire both drivers in parallel to the amp?

I worked it out and got 1ohm total resistance, but it has been a while since i have figured any of this wiring stuff out.

TIA!

ok, sweet. i was just a little cornfloozled there because some shop guy said he could wire the dual 2 ohm voice coil speakers into 1 ohm. but that just didnt work out mathamatically.

Thanks!

with dual 4 ohm coils in parallel, you essentially have 2 2ohm speakers... 2 2ohm speakers in parallel will give you one ohm.

still possible..

series both voice coils to give 4 ohms

parallel both subs to give 2 ohms

bridge the amp to give 1 ohm

i'd prefer your method, but now you can't run the amp at full power unless it can handle 1/2 ohm loads.

i am going to run a memphis 16-ST1000D amp, if i bridge the two output channels, with the wiring i explained above, will that give me 1/2 Ohm total? or will it stay at 1 Ohm?

WHOA COWBOY!!!

Series 2 4ohms loads will give you 8 ohms....not 4!!!

IF you parallel the VC's, youll get 2ohms, then parallel the subs, youll get a total load of 1ohm

BUT.......

A bridged amp will see 1/2 ohm. BE CAREFUL. Only if you have a mono block or something will it effectively be 1ohm.

If you want to be safe, series the VC's to get 8ohms, then parallel the subs to get 4, then the bridged amp will see 2ohms. I dont know what that amp will do. Find out if its really 1/2ohm stable before you go 1/2 ohm setup.
